Weekly Update Nov. 29

Dear Families,

We hope that you have enjoyed some time off to give thanks with your children. We are certainly thankful for our school community and most of all for the children.

By now, most of you should have received a copy of the letter which begins our annual fundraising campaign. We earnestly ask that you first consider making a personal (or business) donation but also to please take a bit of time and effort to include people in your own community who might consider making a donation towards our school. Extra copies to send or give are available in your classroom. Thank you for helping us expand our support throughout our community and to the many of you who have already contributed to our cause.

School will be closed Wednesday-Friday, November 25-27 to observe the Thanksgiving holiday. Enjoy the time with your family!

Weekly Update Nov. 22

We were  delighted to visit with so many school family members while enjoying Stone Soup last week. We had local and visiting grandparents, great grandparents and honorary grandparents, too- what a warm way to spend a fall afternoon.  We also received  very special help from employees of Kohl’s Department Store, who moved furniture, served soup and joined our party. Kohl’s is also  donating $500 towards Dragonfly’s general expenses as part of their community service program. Special thanks to Karen Menetrey for making this partnership possible.

Our great thanks to all of you who brought in pledges for the Wheelathon. To date we have raised $3065 with reports of more to come. Extraordinary efforts by many have really made such a positive difference in Dragonfly’s bottom line this year already. We will continue to seek funds from our community (great and small) as we head into our annual fundraising campaign. We are really appreciative of those of you who have already given and to those of you reaching out to others who are interested in seeing success in programs such as Dragonfly offers.

DATES TO LOOK OUT FOR:

WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25-27-NO SCHOOL. Thanksgiving Break.

Weekly Update Nov. 15

Dear Dragonfly Families,

With today’s weather, here is a reminder that Dragonfly School follows the inclement weather policy of Santa Fe Public Schools. We will abide by those decisions regarding 2 hour delays or school cancellations. The most immediate news will be found at www.sfps.info, but we will post it under Announcements on our website at www.dragonflyschool.com, as soon as we are informed of changes. Updates and calendar also available on our website!

We will be cooking and sharing Stone Soup this week. Please bring in your ingredients so we will be ready to cook on Wednesday. Thanks.

If you haven’t yet made it to the Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival, put a bit of time aside today to view our students’ work and all the other amazing art at this show. Open today from 10-5 at El Museo Cultural on Paseo de Peralta, right next to the Farmers Market.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOUR FAMILY WILL ATTEND.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19: EATING STONE SOUP FOR LUNCH: In the past, we have invited families to join us for soup and bread; this year we would like to extend a special invitation to grandparents who will be in the area. We notice how many grandparents seem to be an active part of our students’ lives, and would like to let them know how much they are appreciated. Please let your kids’ grandparents know how much we would like to have them here for this event. Children are putting together small performances to be offered prior to the meal. Weekly Update November 7

Dear Families,
Thanks to all the drivers and chaperones who made the field trip to the zoo possible for the Buds and Saplings classes on Friday: Karen Menetrey, Leo and Angela Segura, Julie Wittenberg, Donato Jaggers, and Monika Cassel. The reports of the many baby animals were numerous and joyful.
Speaking of drivers, there have been some reports of families disregarding the rules of the parking lot during drop-off and pick-up. Please remember that these rules exist for the safety of our children as well as being the provisions of our city zoning as a school. Please always, ALWAYS follow the rules (even if you think no one is there or watching). Just a review:
When exiting your parking place, you must circle all the way around the median to exit, even if you are parked close to the garden and could back out and straight into the driveway.
Please make sure all children are closely attended to: if you have more than one child make sure they are all in the car before giving your attention to seatbelting, etc.
Turn off your cell phone when driving in the parking lot.
Enter into the right fork of the driveway only, nearest to the school.
Exit from the right fork and to the right only onto Alto Street. Left turn only at La Madera or further on.
The speed limit is 20 mph on Alto Street in the vicinity of the school.
Thank you from the children and the neighbors.

And speaking of drivers - oops - Riders, we are so thankful for those wheelathon pledges which keep rolling in! We hope to broadcast our totals by the end of next week.

Weekly Update Nov. 1

Dear Families,

We enjoyed having so many of you join us for our Halloween Party on Friday. Thanks for all of your help. We hope you had as much fun as we did! If you were responsible for the delicious cookies on the monster plate, thanks and your dish is in the kitchen.
As we continue in our efforts to boost student enrollment, we have decided to offer an incentive to any current family referring a new family who enrolls their child at Dragonfly. If a newly enrolling family lists you as their referral, you may have the option of receiving a 10-visit Dragonfly aftercare voucher or  $100 credit towards school payment of your choice. Please help us get the word out about our school. Thank you!
This will be the last week for Morgan Erickson-Davis to teach in our aftercare program. She will be heading out to resume employment with the Department of Game and Fish, where she will ensure the safety of wildlife in the commercial fishing industry. Irina Zerkin will take Morgan’s place and will be at Dragonfly starting this Thursday. Irina is a recent graduate of the College of Santa Fe and has worked with preschoolers in both camp and school settings in New York City. We are excited to bring her into our school community.
The Saplings enjoyed the visit from guest archeologist, Cheri Walth, last week. Thanks for your time and expertise, Cheri!
Thanks to everyone who paid tuition by the 25th. If you haven’t yet paid your November tuition, please include a $25 late fee with your payment. Thanks!
