Weekly Update May 15

Dear Families,

It is that time of year when we are so busy consolidating our vast work of the year and moving into the changes ahead of us. Children will continue to visit other classrooms and we will work as groups and individually on transitions for all. Please communicate with us as much as you can to simplify transitions. Please be aware of the busy schedules and send your child prepared for events and outdoor time. Thank you!

Stephanie is looking for a family who would like to bring our school corn snake, Snuggles, home for the summer break. He is gentle and used to handling by children. He eats a frozen mouse once a week and comes with a 3′x18″ terrarium. If you are interested in taking this on, please talk to stephanie or reply to this email.

Thanks to everyone who has come by to claim items from the Spring Fair auction. Items are still waiting there. Please pick yours up asap. Thank you!

Weekly Update May 8

Dear Families,
Happy Mothers Day to every mother out there. We acknowledge the special position that you hold in the lives of children.
Thanks to you all (and I mean every single one of you!) for your participation in another amazing Spring Fair. The energy seemed relaxed and happy during the fair; fun and festivities were being enjoyed by all. I saw lots of unfamiliar faces, as well as many who are keeping up with us from the past, alogside our current Dragonfly families. And what amazing weather! I count it as a very successful community event. We’ll tally the final numbers this week, but we know already that we improved on last year’s ticket booth sales by $700 compared to last year. Ticket sales and donations totaled  $2600 and change! (Auction totals still to come.) We will be contacting winners of auction items this week to schedule item delivery and payment.
Things are speeding up and winding down at school this month. Please help your child by keeping track of events and by continuing to talk about upcoming transitions. Be sure to talk with your teacher about transitions, too, so that we can support the changes your child will encounter.
Please note that field trips will be noted for your approval on this week’s sign-in sheet. Thank you!

Weekly Update 5-1-11

Dear Families,
Happy May Day! May is here along with its many, many activities and events. Please remember that there will be no school tomorrow, as we take a day to take a deep breath before the last month goes into full swing.
Our new daily sign in sheets will include a space to notify you of any impromptu field trips (ie. walks to the river or in the neighborhood). New licensure regulations through the Children, Youth and Families Department require you to pre-approve any absences from our campus. We hope that this new system will offer us maximum flexibility to enjoy our surrounding environment while complying with our licensing authority.
I am sure you all realize that this Saturday is Spring Fair. If you haven’t yet signed up to participate, please, please find a way in which you can contribute. We depend on you to make this a fun community event. Many hands make for light work. Make a salad or baked goods, spend an hour running a game or craft booth, solicit some auction items or show up before or after to help set up or break down the event. Seriously, we can’t do it without you!

Sign-up sheets are in classrooms now to help you choose a task best suited to you and your schedule. We could really use your help in asking the community for donations of items for our silent auction. Any item or service of $25 value or up is wonderful!
