Weekly Update Nov. 1

Dear Families,

We enjoyed having so many of you join us for our Halloween Party on Friday. Thanks for all of your help. We hope you had as much fun as we did! If you were responsible for the delicious cookies on the monster plate, thanks and your dish is in the kitchen.
As we continue in our efforts to boost student enrollment, we have decided to offer an incentive to any current family referring a new family who enrolls their child at Dragonfly. If a newly enrolling family lists you as their referral, you may have the option of receiving a 10-visit Dragonfly aftercare voucher or  $100 credit towards school payment of your choice. Please help us get the word out about our school. Thank you!
This will be the last week for Morgan Erickson-Davis to teach in our aftercare program. She will be heading out to resume employment with the Department of Game and Fish, where she will ensure the safety of wildlife in the commercial fishing industry. Irina Zerkin will take Morgan’s place and will be at Dragonfly starting this Thursday. Irina is a recent graduate of the College of Santa Fe and has worked with preschoolers in both camp and school settings in New York City. We are excited to bring her into our school community.
The Saplings enjoyed the visit from guest archeologist, Cheri Walth, last week. Thanks for your time and expertise, Cheri!
Thanks to everyone who paid tuition by the 25th. If you haven’t yet paid your November tuition, please include a $25 late fee with your payment. Thanks!
DATES TO LOOK OUT FOR:
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2: PHOTO ORDERS DUE. Please return to your teacher.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 10-12: WHEEL-A-THON: Please be sure your child has a helmet to ride safely. The weather is supposed to be 66 degrees and sunny! We can always use extra hands for this event. Please let your teacher know if you will be there to help. Thank you!
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6: SAPLINGS AND BUDS FIELD TRIP TO THE RIO GRANDE ZOO in Albuquerque. They will need drivers and chaperones in order for this trip to happen. Please sign up with your teacher.
FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 13 & 14: RECYCLE SANTA FE ART FESTIVAL- Dragonfly students’ work will be on exhibit on Saturday and Sunday along with the rest of this inspiring show. Please come by El Museo Cultural in the Railyard to have a look.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18: COOKING STONE SOUP- The entire school will participate in recreating this old folk tale of community and contribution as we make soup from a stone! Please send your child with an edible item to add to the soup. The idea is that if we all bring to the pot a bit of what we’ve got, we can feed us all.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19: EATING STONE SOUP FOR LUNCH-In the past, we have invited families to join us for soup and bread; this year we would like to extend a special invitation to grandparents who will be in the area. We notice how many grandparents seem to be an active part of our students’ lives, and would like to let them know how much they are appreciated. Please let your kids’ grandparents know how much we would like to have them here for this event. Children are putting together small performances to be offered prior to the meal. Extra soup will be delivered to shut-ins in our neighborhood.
