Weekly Update Nov. 15

Dear Dragonfly Families,

With today’s weather, here is a reminder that Dragonfly School follows the inclement weather policy of Santa Fe Public Schools. We will abide by those decisions regarding 2 hour delays or school cancellations. The most immediate news will be found at www.sfps.info, but we will post it under Announcements on our website at www.dragonflyschool.com, as soon as we are informed of changes. Updates and calendar also available on our website!

We will be cooking and sharing Stone Soup this week. Please bring in your ingredients so we will be ready to cook on Wednesday. Thanks.

If you haven’t yet made it to the Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival, put a bit of time aside today to view our students’ work and all the other amazing art at this show. Open today from 10-5 at El Museo Cultural on Paseo de Peralta, right next to the Farmers Market.

Thanks to everyone who trick-or-treated for UNICEF this year! We will be sending that worthy organization $126.87 for your efforts.

DATES TO LOOK OUT FOR:

FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 14 & 15: RECYCLE SANTA FE ART FESTIVAL- Dragonfly students’ work will be on exhibit on Saturday and Sunday along with the rest of this inspiring show. Please come by El Museo Cultural in the Railyard to have a look. So many interesting items will be on display and for sale.

MONDAY & TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16 & 17-Â Please send your child with an edible item to add to the Stone Soup. The idea is that if we all bring to the pot a bit of what we’ve got, we can feed us all. Vegetables, herbs, broth, beans and grains are all wonderful additions to the stone and water soup base. WE ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT HAVING GRANDPARENTS VISIT FOR THIS EVENT. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOUR FAMILY WILL ATTEND.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18: COOKING STONE SOUP: The entire school will participate in recreating this old folk tale of community and contribution as we make soup from a stone! PLEASE LET YOUR TEACHER KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE AROUND TO HELP WITH CHOPPING AND COOKING! THANKS.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19: EATING STONE SOUP FOR LUNCH: In the past, we have invited families to join us for soup and bread; this year we would like to extend a special invitation to grandparents who will be in the area. We notice how many grandparents seem to be an active part of our students’ lives, and would like to let them know how much they are appreciated. Please let your kids’ grandparents know how much we would like to have them here for this event. Children are putting together small performances to be offered prior to the meal. Extra soup will be delivered to shut-ins in our neighborhood.

WEDNESDAY- FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25-27: Â NO SCHOOL. THANKSGIVING BREAK
