Weekly Update November 6

Dear Families,
We hope you will all come by for a visit to the Recycled Art Festival at El Museo Cultural next weekend. Thanks to the many of you who have volunteered time towards this event. We also look forward to our Stone Soup community lunch this month. Grandparents are especially invited to come.
Please give your child a thorough lice check this week. We have only seen recurrence in students who have had lice previously; no recent new cases, but please help us with this task just to be sure.
It’s time to bring your indoor shoes and have them at school for snow season. Something with a sole that could make it outdoors in emergency is best. Indoor sneakers probably beat the standard slipper for versatility, letting children skip a change of footwear on drier days. This helps us keep our floors dry and our feet comfortable. Thank you!
DATES TO LOOK OUT FOR:
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6-TODAY! -DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS- Fall back one hour!

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12 &13 , 9-5 -RECYCLE SANTA FE ART FESTIVAL- Come see our students’ recycled work in the artists exhibition! We are also excited to have been offered the chance to hold a bake sale during this event which can bring in 3,500 visitors! Please help us coordinate, bake for and serve during this great opportunity as it draws near.(Sign-ups will be out soon.) We are also collecting disposable napkins, plates and utensils to use in serving; this is a great way to use up those mis-matched paper leftovers from the birthday/St. Patrick’s Day/ Thanksgiving  party that are still sitting in your cupboard. Bring them to our school kitchen anytime if you’d like to donate them to this cause. (It’s as recycled as we could think to be for such an event…)

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 6-8PM-SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING-All are welcome. Please RSVP for childcare during the meeting.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21-COOKING STONE SOUP-Ever tried to make soup from a stone? It’s easy if everyone adds a little of what they have to the pot. Bring a bit of vegetables, grains, beans or herbs to add to the mix. We have set aside potatoes, tomatoes and pesto from the school garden for this event.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 11:30-1PM- STONE SOUP LUNCH- We are inviting parents and grandparents to this annual event. Come enjoy some entertainment, eat soup and our school-made bread with the entire school community. Please come and bring your grandparents!
